I've been slacking

Hey everyone! I apologize for not posting as often lately. I have been attending to the Senior Blog a lot more and I'm sorry!
Well as you know, we are booked solid with Senior portraits for the summer. Andrew is shooting up a storm, and the rest of us are trying to keep up with orders and getting your images ready to view!

I am keeping my schedule as open as possible so that we can still have time for the children's portraits. Our gardens are SO FULL this summer. We are still waiting for all the flowers to bloom...it shouldn't be too long. Maybe over the weekend!
The rain will help with that.

So as a BLOG special, I would like to offer you 50% off an outdoor children's session! Email me or call me before the end of the week and I will give you half off your session fee. (just for kids though)

Also, we are going to be changing our Kid's Club just a little bit so stay tuned for information on that! Trust me, it is for the better!

Ok everyone,
If you're in the area..grab your special someone and head out to the Lansing Mall and eat at the Red Cedar Grill! This is a great place. Don't let the location scare you away, the food is wonderful! The atmosphere is very cool and relaxed, the staff was really great and they even have live music on Friday nights.

So much has happened...

...since I've last posted!

First of all, I have to say Congratulations to Meghan and Loren! They got married June 9th and it was a beautiful Saturday! We wish you guys all the best and lots of love!

They love to kiss :)

I was gone last week to attend a photography school called GLIP. I was up in Traverse City soaking up tons of new ideas, making new photography friends and enjoying the weather. We had a great week! I was Bryan Cox's GLIPPEE(which is basically a helper). Bry is a great guy all around. Smart, funny, creative, great photographer and single! (ladies, anyone interested?) We had a great time making fun of each other. I think the best night at GLIP was the baseball game that we went to. There were about 20 of us that went, and we were cheering loud and doing the wave! Here's a couple pics from the game!
This is me and Bry!
Me and Carly
Crazy cheering Lindsay!

And today I'm back to work! Putting all my new knowledge to use!
Enjoy this gorgeous night everyone!

Brett & Carolyn 6.02.07

Brett and Carolyn were married at the St. Joe Catholic Church in St. Johns on Saturday the 2nd. It was a very warm summer day with a small but mighty rain and hail storm. Yes, that's right hail! Luckily, the bridal party was already in the limo when the rain began. It was over quickly and we made our way to the Capital for some more pictures.
The wedding was beautiful. A few tears were shed during the ceremony, followed by lots of cheering during the reception. The bridesmaids were dressed in pale yellow and looked stunning. And the bride...gorgeous, calm and collected. The groomsmen were gentlemen to say the least. You could tell that they were a tight knit group.
Thank you both for letting us be a part of your day! We are truly honored to have been there.
Congratulations!

The Power of Prayer

This little girl has changed not only my life, but hundreds of lives around us. This is Kelsey and she is the strongest, bravest, and most determined person that I know.
She is ten years old and 9 weeks ago, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She has gone through surgery after surgery, a stroke, and therapies of every kind to get her back up on her feet. She has so much strength...more than most.

With thanks to her family, I want to say that I have witnessed more than just one miracle in this little girl's life. Her family has kept an online journal so that her family and friends could keep up with her progress. Every day Kelsey would have a new hurdle to face and they would ask for prayer. And every day a prayer was answered. And now; Kelsey is home, back in her room, with her things and her comforts. And we look back at how far she has come in these 9 weeks.
And I say to you that God can do amazing things. He has shown that here.

A New Place to Shop

I had the cutest little girl come into the studio the week before I went on vacation! Her name is Alivia and she's adorable! She has the best expressions...and you know I'm a sucker for eyes...look at those eyes:)

Alivia's mom told be about the coolest website. It's www.etsy.com and they sell everything handmade. They have really cute clothes, handbags, jewelry, etc. My favorite two places to look are Lemons & Lollies and Lulaballou(in the purse section). They have the cutest purses! Here's a couple samples of things.

Have fun looking!

Relaxation!

I just got back last night from a week up north and it was great! My husband Tim and I have not had time off together since our honeymoon over 3 years ago.
We went up north to Boyne City where my parents have a vacation home. For the first couple days, we just sat out on the patio and looked out at the water and listened to the trees as they moved in the wind. Just what I needed!
Even our dog got a vacation! We played fetch and took him swimming every chance we got! He was a tired dog at the end of each day! As we say "a tired dog is a good dog."

We also made it out to Sleeping Bear Dunes for a very very long walk. It was great exercise, but really tiring. At one point, we stopped and looked around and almost felt like we were in the middle of a desert. Water anyone?

After we finally made it back to civilization, we went to Traverse City and made our way to our favorite spot by the water. We found a great shade tree and took a little nap.

For Memorial Day weekend, we went to Mackinaw Island with family and friends. We go every year and spend time biking and sitting on the porch of the Windamere.

Now, I am home and ready to take on the crazy summer!

So now I'm going to say fairwell for a week. I am taking a much needed little vacation and will be back after Memorial day weekend!

It's my party and...

there's no need to cry! :) I was telling my friend Jess Challa that turning 30 wasn't that bad, but for some reason 31 is whole different ball game. It feels so much different for some reason and I'm not sure why. But, I'm going to celebrate with the family and eat cake for the 2nd time today and not worry about all the calories!
I'll worry about that tomorrow!

Using that teaching degree!

We just had our first In Studio All Day Seminar for photographers last Monday and with the Kid's Contest going on I haven't had time to talk about it.
From 9 to 5, we had about 10 photographers from all over Michigan come hang out with us! The thing that I love about teaching is that I learn so much! When we have photographers at our studio it's usually more collaborating than just us teaching.

Well, I hope that everyone that attended had as much fun as I did! We will definitely be hosting this again sometime soon!

Thanks everyone!

Better Day

Have you ever had one of those days that starts off not so good and then declines from there? That was my day yesterday. I rarely have really terrible days, but yesterday was it for sure. In the morning, I was eating my Very healthy peanut butter and jelly sandwich for breakfast and on my third bite I started choking. I was sitting there thinking that it would pass, but after a second I realized this was really happening. My husband who is a trained EMT was in another room, busy (if you know what I mean) and I decided I better get up and get him to help me. I was ok until I tried to yell his name and couldn't! I panicked...just a little. By the time he got out to where I was, I was hunched over gasping for a breath. I was really scared. He grabbed be around the waist and asked me if I was breathing, and as I shook my head no, I got a slight intake of air. Once that happened, I panicked more and just started crying. After a very long few seconds of coughing and trying to breathe, I finally caught my breath and felt what was in my throat go down.

So for the next 30 minutes or so, we just sat on the couch shaking. And of course I was still crying. That was SO scary.
When I finally got to work, I just really didn't want to be there and pretty much made my day a bad one. The only thing that saved it was my session in the evening. That's what I love about kids. Even when you're having the worst day ever, they can put a smile on your face.

So the moral to this story is don't choke on your breakfast :)
Actually, try to turn your day around if your having a bad day. Take a minute to be thankful for all you have because you never know what could happen. And also, make sure your spouse knows the heimlick!
Good night all
